WOW - it's been a busy summer!
One of the many, many events I've been blessed to be a part of is this adorable first birthday party. G + N were troopers during this long, long day - they almost made it entirely through without a nap!
Why was this day so awesome? Honestly? Aside from the fact that the twins are super freakin' cute, it was the love radiating from their friends, family, and even other babies and kids there.
Let's be honest for a second.. (especially those of us that drive and witness some pretty insane road rage every day on the highway ;) ) people seem ready to burst over the smallest, minute things right now - so being able to be part of this moment and day was extra special. This goes for many special occasions I attend in life, whether it's work or play.
It's also that time in life where I've been thinking more about family members as they age. How they've cared so much for me over the years, gone out of their way, or made sacrifices to ensure my well-being or happiness.
This party was a picture of a beautiful community that I hope everyone is able to have in their life.
It was one of those things that reminded me to think about when the last time I took a day to visit my grandparents was. When the last time I took my parents out to lunch was.
Despite all the frustrating and not-so-great memories that may sometimes cloud our minds, these moments - like the great-grandmother [above] sharing a bonding second with G - these are the moments I live for. That we all live for.
I believe that everyone has a yearning to connect with others. It's just human nature.
Tangents aside, it was the sweetest first birthday. I mean, just check out N + G's parents helping them blow out the candle!
There were also some frogs (toads?) hopping about and sunbathing that day. I was holding too much equipment to grab one, but others were more than happy to jump in there!
Kudos to these wonderful parents for hosting a lovely birthday. Looking forward to the next one! :)
